The Bellbird Primary School

We have two Year 2 classes at The Bellbird:

Mr Pauley and Mrs Irwin cover PPA time on Thursday afternoons. We also have Mrs Leech, Mrs King, Mrs Taylor, Miss Foster, Mrs Khan, Mrs Percival, Mrs Beckwith and Mrs Pacey supporting all our children with their learning.

In Year 2 at The Bellbird, we explore the history of castles, flight and school, and enjoy trips and visitors to enrich our history learning. We step back into the shoes of Victorian school children at Braintree District Museum, see historic aircraft first-hand at The Shuttleworth Museum and experience life as Normans and Anglo-Saxons during our Bayeux Tapestry day. We will learn about life in the hottest and coldest climates on earth, and hear from Antarctic visitors what it really feels like to visit the South Pole. We will discover how the biggest and smallest living things survive on our planet, as well as what materials the objects we use every day are made from. We will learn to calculate with 2-digit numbers and explore how mathematics can be found everywhere in our lives, from the clocks on our walls to the money in our purses. We will delve into a whole range of stories, poems, factual texts, songs and more, and use our creative skills to make new stories, letters, music, artwork and structures inspired by our learning. By the end of Year 2, our pupils will have gained the independence, skills and knowledge that make them ready to transition to Key Stage 2 as curious, ambitious, respectful, empathic learners, ready for new, exciting challenges.
